Ok, Ok, I finally am getting sick enough of people asking when I'm going to update this...so here I am. For Memorial Day, we went to Island Park. (and when I say WE I am not referring to the mouse in my pocket, I am referring to Scott, Sophie, Luke and Gwen Rice, and Scotts Parents Bill and Janelle) We had a great time, let me just lay that out right there. What a beautiful place to spend time with loved ones and just kick back and RELAX. Scott and his crew rented my brother Gregg's cabin in Island Park that weekend, and of course we wanted to use the airstream. They arrived around 6PM, we arrived later with our airstream (11:10 PM). Upon turning on our generator, nothing (including HEAT) worked due to an electrical issue. (keep in mind this was memorial day for Island Park, so it was a little chilly out...)For all you RV owners, this will be no surprise to you. I'm sure you have experienced these things before and are sitting back in your lounge chair laughing, cause you probably have sold your RV already. My brother Gregg once told me, 'the best days of owning an RV are the day you buy one, and the day you sell one....' oh how true this is.... jk. After about an hour of messing around with switches, plugs, Batteries etc, I finally put my foot down and said let my husband know that we need to decide if we are staying in the warm cabin, or if we are going beg extra blankets off the Rices'....we begged blankets. After a chilly night, we woke up to the warming sun, and for Sophie and I, a large road bike ride.
The weather was nice the entire weekend. A little cold at times, and a bit rainy, but no bugs, no snow, and phone calls. (no reception) Soph and I took a 35 mile bike ride on Saturday, lounged the rest of the day, and on Sunday, took a ride into West Yellowstone about 50 or so miles up the road. We packed a lunch and stopped in W. Yellowstone to eat and stretch. We stopped twice for Buffalo to walk 3 feet from our cars, and once to see the beloved "old faithful" which wasn't so faithful.
As far as things to do, a mnt bike is needed....road biking was good, but no shoulder if you take the main road, I would say to scout out a better ride, do the homework up front. Fishing was great per Scott and Bill, and of course take a book.
Overall a great vaca. We were finally able on Saturday to get the generator to run all that we needed, so all was well there, but were glad that there was a cabin to shower and hang out in. Thanks Bill and Janelle for being so willing to let us 'storm the castle'. Enjoy the pics, this was a great vaca and urge any of you to let me know if you need a cabin rental in the Island Park area with all the comforts of home, I know a guy.........
