My last post was on January 23rd...oddly enough, it was about brussel sprouts. haha A week after that, I gave birth to my husbands and I 2nd child, a beautiful baby boy we named Ezra. He was born at 1:39AM on the 1st of February. He weighed in at 6lbs 5oz (exactly one pound bigger than Elsje) and 19.5". As some of you remember, he tried to come 9.5 weeks early, so I was on bed rest and Ezra got a good does of steroids....and boy could we tell they worked! He was screaming as he was coming out! Since Ezra was the only birth that night, the crew wasn't too worried about all the legality of things, and they left us with him for like an hour in a quiet darkened room so we could get to know our little screamer. I honestly was very nervous to have the drs and staff leave cause he would just start screaming from a dead sleep! I actually thought about asking the dr to put him back...I'm not even joking....ok, a little. He is a hungry little boy and the first couple of months were very hard. He wanted to nurse nonstop and if he wasn't nursing or sleeping, he was crying. But, we've passed the hump and he's doing much better. (thank you fenugreek)
Here are a couple pics to enjoy of our little man!
Two weeks after we brought our little man home, Elsje had a special day. She celebrated her 1st birthday with a huge turn out from family. She LOVED the whole idea of digging into the cake, and showed us just how good she was at that.
During the last three months, Peter and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary as well. It was hard to do anything very extravagant, but we did take a trip to St. George with our kids. Peter rode his bike, Elsje had some pool time, and experienced sand dunes for the first time, Mom got a makeover at a local salon and ezra just hung out. It was relaxing and I'm glad we did it.
Well, I have done a few arts and crafts, although very minor...but I'll have to share those another day. I hope you enjoyed this brief look into our lives over these last three months. I want to personally thank you all for your love and concern during this time in our lives. I haven't once felt that I was unloved or not receiving blessings for this new adventure we are embarking on.
love,
niss
