Let's hear it for the BOY!!

This last week (Friday the 23rd of September) Peter and I had our 20 week ultrasound for the little one on its way. I've decided that my mothers intuition is extremely off, and from now on, I'll go with the opposite of what my body "feels." When I was pregnant with Elsje, I was 98% certain I was having a boy. OOPS....with this baby, I was 99% sure it was a girl. OOPS AGAIN! Peter and I are happy to announce that we will be welcoming a little BOY into our home in the coming months. I'm still getting over the shock that I'm carrying a boy....but peter was on board the second our son's privates JUMPED onto the screen. LOL. He wasn't shy at all, and the tech didn't even need to tell us...it was OBVIOUS. :)

I'm very thankful for the situation I find myself in with this baby. It took us 3 years and a crazy crazy diet to finally get Elsje, but this one came so easily, that I know there is a plan in store for our little family. People quite often take the negative road when I tell them about my baby situation...and it makes me a little sad. I'm very excited about whats in store, and I'm looking forward to the next stage in not only my life, but my family's life as well. Enjoy a few ultrasound pics below...I really could never get sick of seeing them and realizing what a great plan our Heavenly Father has in store for his children.

Forgive me, lets just say I'm turning a new leaf.....

Well hello everyone who ventured into this blog! Welcome! If you have previously read this blog, you may or may not remember what it is about. Peter and I initially set it up as a traveling/camping blog. It only lasted a short time due to my...well...life! haha.

I've decided to revive this blog as I'd like a place where I can list any projects I'm currently working on, an also give those "cute" updates about my kid. Yes, since I've posted last, I've gone through the art of conceiving a child, which turns out that is a LOT harder for us that imagined, the art of pregnancy, the art of giving birth, and the art of being a first time mom. I use ART a lot in this post cause I have no idea how teenage girls get pregnant so fast and usually have no idea HOW to get pregnant, how they deal with the ups and downs of morning sickness, and losing their girlish figure, how they give birth (again keeping in mind that I'm sure at this point they STILL don't know how they got pregnant), and how they deal with being a mom so young. I'm 27 and I still have no idea what I'm doing. :)

For this first post, I'd just like to introduce you to the newest member of "wanna get away? us too" and share some cute pics if you don't mind.

Elsje Boogaard was born on February 13th, 2011. She was 5 pounds and 5 ounces. She was 17.5 inches long. Insert picture 1:
She has brought so much love to our home and neither of us realized how much we could love someone till she came along.

Some fun info:
Elsje is now 7.5 weeks old an will be 8 weeks to the day on her blessing day this Sunday.
She currently weighs just about 8 lbs and is 21 inches long.
She rolled over and grandma and grandpa Nelsons house at 3 weeks old.
She is just starting to smile like crazy and we've heard her giggle a few times...a sound that I'm sure will never get old.

Elsje likes to roll her eyes at her parents, get her picture taken, eat, have baths, and be held. She still likes to curl her legs up under her belly...a habit her mom is CERTAIN is going to make her bowlegged. Peter has been home from work for two months, and will continue to be home for antoher month. Im really not sure what I'll do when I don't have another set of hands around to help out when I want to do something for myself...and when I say that, I mean TAKE A SHOWER. I know that my life has totally changed, and doing something for myself has now been put on the back burner...so its a good thing she came out cute.

Please enjoy more pics and I'll talk to you soon!!

Niss

so the beard....he said he was going to keep growing it till she was born...good thing she came when she did....
Her first meeting with her new pets....she is already Alpha dog.

she loves being held and patted on the back and bum.

Her two week appt. too cute not to capture.

she found her thumb right away. I'm embarrassed to say she found her eyes at the same time.

One day after church. she was letting us know how she REALLY feels.
