craft time!

Hey guys!

Im a little behind, so you may see several posts in the coming days. What I wanted to show today was my MAD sewing skills. (not) but this was an easter skirt I made for my daughter Elsje. Keep in mind this is the FIRST thing I have really made. I didn't use a pattern (as you can probably see...haha) but I had fun making it. I was so into this project, that I spent every waking hour (that I wasn't with my daughter) working on it and forgot to eat the ENTIRE time. Enjoy!

(It only fit her for like 2 weeks. :()

OK, so now I have a NON sewing craft project I KNOW you have all seen, but I gave this to my mother for part of her Christmas present, and she swears she loves it.

They are flower pens in a ceramic pot

I found the pot at HOBBY lobby for 50% (this is my new favorite store by the way..)
I had already purchased the ribbon, a cost I had already accounted for

These flowers I also found at HOBBY LOBBY for 50% off as well. You can choose any types of flowers, even if they have a thick base

They you purchase BIC pens or any type of pens you love.
I removed the cap and just tossed the caps, cause when you assemble the pen, there won't be room to put the cap on.

Then you purchase floral tape, any color you want, but may I suggest green? It makes the pen look like the stem of the flower and you can't see hand dirt on the green when you have used the pen over and over.

You just put the cut the flower with wire cutters until they are about the length of your pen. I start at the tip of the pen and work my way up to the flower with the green tape, that way the green tape won't "fray". Start wrapping the tape around the pen and the wire part of the flower. you can do this as thick as you want. I tend to do a thick layer just so it won't tear. Once you are done wrapping, just pour some dry beans in the bottom of your canister of choice and place flowers in the beans. Depending on the materials you purchase, this could be an inexpensive gift to someone you love. you can also just make a bunch of the pen flowers and give them as spring/summer gifts with a notebook to a Visiting Teaching lady or a friend.

the possibilities are endless..... ENJOY!

Also, just cause it was easter, and Elsje got a cute lamb for Easter.........:
