I'll be home for Christmas....If only in my dreams

The title of my post is also my favorite Christmas season song. I could play it on the piano over and over, and sing along when it comes on the radio. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes, as Christmas at the Nelsons was ALWAYS a fun, delicious, moment savoring time. I always want to be at MY home for Christmas and never anywhere else. I hope that my kids feel the same way as they grow up, although they won't have my dad hovering around them with a black garbage bag waiting for the scraps of wrapping paper so the house stays clean....and they won't have my mom to give thoughtful gifts and take pictures of EVERY item we opened. (However, I have been around peters family for numerous Christmases and it seems Elsje's Opa and father do the same thing, so we may be covered there, and although I can't claim to be a thoughtful gift giver, I can claim to taking too many pictures...we may be ok after all!)

This year we put up the Christmas Tree for Family Home Evening....usually I just did it when I had time after work and peter would show up to a beautiful Christmas tree...lucky...haha

But since I've had a child, for me it has changed my perspective on what I want to do with my holidays now. Setting up the tree as a family falls under that category for sure. Even though nine month old elsje couldn't do anything but destroy packaging this year, we welcomed her little comments and sweet spirit.

Peter couldn't wait till the tree was completely decorated with the tree skirt and bulbs. He started snapping pics of Elsje with the lights off as soon as he could! Below are a couple pics of her enjoying her first lit Christmas tree.
