Hello All!
I've had a lot of time to sit and avoid this blog, but now my time is up...I MUST POST! I was thinking about what I could possible post about since my life has been a little dull for a few weeks, and I decided I'd write about food. Who doesn't love food?? Especially a very pregnant woman??! I've been doing a lot of research and reading on losing baby weight while still nursing AND keeping it natural and wholesome. I frequent a blog called "green shakes and giggles" run by a couple cute fun ladies in my ward. I like a lot of the food they blog about, and I try their recipes more often than not. I can't do as organic and raw as they do, but I like to learn new tips and tricks from them.
I decided yesterday that I was going to start adding more raw back into my diet. As most of you know, I went on an all Alkaline diet when trying to get pregnant with Elsje. I liked it, but it was hard! It was worth it. After I was pregnant, I had several food aversions that made it impossible to keep on the diet. I eventually went back to my processed unhealthy eating habits. After Elsje was born, I ran across a recipe book that literally changed my life. Its a book chucked full of excellent recipes that are inexpensive and easy to make, plus it keeps everything in a wholesome state. I'm rambling.....
Back to my initial thoughts: Today I started in on adding a few raw things back into my diet. I started with a smoothie. I'm adding slowly because I don't want to disrupt my body before I start nursing. Here is the recipe I used:
Morning Smoothie:
1 Cup pineapple (frozen)
1 Cup Blackberries (fresh, bountiful basket)
1 Cup Mango (frozen)
1 1/2 Cup water (more or less depending on how thick or thin you like it)
1 Cup Ice ONLY if you don't use any frozen items
Blend together and drink!
I hope you enjoy this. I like it, and I'm certain its something I can get Peter and Elsje to drink as well.
